As an artist, portraiture can be challenging but equally very appealing and

brings into play all foundation drawing skills.

PORTRAITURE
PictureFibre tip pen portrait
This course is suitable for beginners or more experienced artists who would like to revisit or develop this appealing area of artistic expression.
We will use line and tone to achieve a realistic depiction of the face and its characteristics.

Students are introduced to a conventional pencil approach then go onto explore other media.
Everyone can expect to gain a basic understanding of line and tone, proportions and characteristics of the face, and produce at least one developed and thoughtful portrait in a selected medium, such as - pencil, pen, ink, pastel, or paint etc.

Faithfully reproducing a likeness is a challenge for the beginner - however I like to encourage different styles of expression as we explore a variety of media on this popular subject.
